Jr. Sting Novice MD Tier 2 almost complete
comeback against Woodstock
The Sarnia Jr.
Sting Novice MD Tier 2 team hosted the
Woodstock Jr. Navy Vets Sunday afternoon at
Germain Arena. The Vets currently hold 6th
spot in the league - one point above the
Sting, so the fans were in for a very
exciting game and would not be disappointed.
The Vets opened
the scoring early in the 1st period to take
a 1-0 lead. End to end action continued into
the second period and it would the visitors
who held the 2 goal lead. Brett Brydges
would put the Sting on the board with an
unassisted goal to pull the yellow and black
within one. Down by three, the Sting would
continue to work hard and known for their
"third period efforts", the boys would begin
what looked like a comeback to make the game
a "nail biter" and exciting for all the
fans. Matt Hunt would score at 6:30 of
the period, collecting assists was Curtis
Marks and Burke Roszell. Ben Rutledge would
find the back of the net, 15 seconds later
scoring at 6:45 assisted by Lucas Knowles
and Brett Brydges. It was Nolan DeGurse,
scoring at 7:15 to tie the game. Assisting
on the play was Ben Rutledge and Lucas
Knowles. With the game tied at 4 and time
winding down, Woodstock would have a late
chance and put one past Sting goalie Jakob
Knowles to take the 5-4 lead. The Sting did
pull the keeper in the dying seconds but
were unable to even the score.
Great effort
boys and "no worries" that first victory
will come!!!!!!!!
Next action for
the Sting is Saturday, November 17th, when
they are on the road to London to take on
the SSE Wild, 2:15 pm at Nichols Arena.
