Sarnia Jr. Sting Novice MD Tier 2 host West London in home opener
Sunday afternoon saw the Novice MD Tier 2 host the West London Hawks in their home opener for the 2007-08 season. The boys were eager and ready for their first game. West London was first to get on the board and held a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.
With great determination and the desire not to give up, the Sting regrouped for the second period and would find the back of the net. Lucas Knowles started the scoring for the Sting on a nice goal "top shelf -up where the peanut butter is kept". Assisting on the play was Nolan DeGurse and Brett Brydges. West London kept attacking the Sting but some stellar goaltending from Jakob Knowles kept the Hawks off the gamesheet in the second period. Twice the Hawks had a breakway but Jakob "shut the door." Score at the end of the second, 2-1 for the Hawks.
Down by three goals in the third period, the Sting refused to give up and the momentum would switch towards the Sting and they would continue to pressure the Hawks and were rewarded for their hard work. Matt Hunt began the third period attack with a goal to make the score 4-2. Assists going to Joel Pavey and Camden Pomerleau. The Sting would continue to find the back of the net as the line of DeGurse (goal), Brydges(assist) and Knowles(assist) would put the Sting within one. Before the final buzzer sounded, the Sting would tie the game on the powerplay. Scoring was Brett Brydges assisted by Nolan DeGurse.
Great first game boys and KEEP UP THE HARD WORK!!!!!!!
