Sarnia Jr. Sting
Novice MD Tier 2 still looking for first
league win!
The Sarnia Jr.
Sting Novice MD Tier 2 team made a Tuesday
night appearance in London for a
game against the North London Nationals.
Decked out in their "new team attire" the
boys looked sharp and were hoping to carry
that look out on the ice surface.
The
Nationals jumped on the Sting and had an
early 2-0 lead. Not to be out done, the
Sting did rally for a goal before the end of
the period to come within one. Goal scorer
was Brett Brydges, assisted by Ryan Gould.
The Nationals continued to pressure the
black and yellow into the second and would
stretch their lead to 5-2. Great offensive
pressure by the line of DeGurse; Knowles and
Brydges resulted in a highlight reel goal.
It was Lucas Knowles who made a sweet pass
to Brett Brydges, (collecting his second
goal of the game) by tipping the Knowles
pass through the "five hole." Also assisting
on the play was Burke Roszell.
As in previous
games, the Sarnia fans were hoping for their
"third period team" to come alive.
Unfortunately, the Nationals would not allow
that to happen and would continue to
pressure the Sting and found themselves
scoring 3 more goals before the final
buzzer. The highlight of the third period
was the amazing glove save that Jakob
Knowles made early in the period on a
National player's breakaway. Great
job!!!!!! Not to be discouraged the Sting
would put one more past the London goalie
before the end of the game. Goal scorer
was Matt Hunt assisted by Carson
Payne. Final score 8-3 for the Nationals.
Next action for
the boys is Thursday, November 1st, 6:30 pm
at Argyle Arena verus the London Devilettes.
Continue to work hard boys and that first
win will come!
