Sarnia Jr. Sting Peewee vs. SSE Wild

Nichols Arena

The Sarnia Jr. Sting Major Peewee’s played their last game before the Christmas break. Greg Loucks got the start in net. At the 8:00 mark of the first period, Chase Henne broke down the left wing and shot the puck off the post. Justin Lindsay was waiting for the rebound and scored the Sting’s first goal of the game. Matt Hodgins was allowed to get in alone and from behind the Wild net, banked the puck in off the goalie for a 2-0 lead. With 3:44 left in the period, Michael Kerwin got a shot off from the top of the face off circle and scored. Hodgins then had another break away and scored his second of the game at 1:07. Greg Loucks made a nice glove save to end the period with the Sting leading 4-0.

In the second period, Loucks made a great save when the Wild had a break away of their own. Matt Hodgins made it a hat trick when he got away from the defense and shot the puck over the Wild goalies shoulder. The two teams traded penalties but at the end of the period, the score was 5-0 for the Sting.

The SSE Wild started the third period with a bit more energy but Greg Loucks came up with a number of good saves to keep them off the score board. Austin Williams was able to stuff in a rebound to increase the lead to 6-0. With 8:55 remaining in the third period, Justin Lindsay scored his second of the game for a 7-0 lead. Loucks made some timely saves and maintained the shut out. The final score was 7-0 for the Sting.

The Sarnia Jr. Sting Major Peewees travel to Watford on December 27th for the first game in the East Lambton Silver Stick tournament.
