Sarnia Jr. Sting vs. North
London Nationals
Carling Arena
The Sarnia Major Peewee MD team
traveled to the Carling Arena in London to meet the North
London Nationals in the Tier 2 division. The Sting had the
opportunity to move closer to first in the division with a
win.
Chris Winch started in goal for
the Sting. The Sting came out buzzing in the first period.
Brendan Hewton, Justin Lindsay, Colin Lange and Tristan Reeb
all had chances to take the lead but despite outplaying the
Nationals, the Sting were unable to score.
In the second period, the North
London Nationals began to rebound and at the 4:07 mark
scored the first goal of the game. Less than 30 seconds
later, the Nationals took a 2-0 lead as the Sting couldn’t
clear the puck from in front of the net. The Nationals were
penalized before the end of the period but the Sarnia team
couldn’t get one past the opposing goalie.
The Sarnia Peewee’s remained
stuck in neutral as the third period began. North London
were able to score 2 more goals for a 4-0 lead. With 23.5
seconds remaining and the teams playing 4 on 4, Jack
Paterson broke the shut out when he deked around the defense
and shoveled the puck past the goalie. The final score was
4-1.
The Sarnia Peewee’s have two
games remaining in the regular season. They play the SSE
Wild at Nichols Arena on Monday, March 3rd at 7:30 p.m. |
