Sarnia Peewee MD Vs. LMHA
Thunder
Wednesday, January 23, 2008
Sarnia Arena
The Sarnia Peewee MD team played
the LMHA Thunder at the Sarnia Arena. The Sting have had
trouble beating the Thunder so far this season.

|
Chris Winch had the
start in net. In the first period, the Sting had
a definite advantage in their ability to pass
the puck. Tristan Reeb, Justin Lindsay and
Brendan Hewton all had great scoring chances and
even though the team had two power play
opportunities, they couldn’t get it past a hot
Thunder goalie.
In the second
period, the Thunder took advantage of their
power play opportunity and scored the first goal
of the game. The Sarnia Peewee team then ran
into more penalty trouble but Chris Winch was
able to come up with some big saves to keep the
game within reach. |

|
The third period
began and the Sting kept pressing. Justin
Lindsay and Koen Gendron were stymied by the
Thunder goalie once again. The LMHA Thunder were
able to capitalize on a loose puck in front of
the net and scored to take a 2-0 lead. Brendan
Hewton cut the lead in half with a great rush
that saw him deke around the defense and put the
puck into the net at the 8:24 mark. The Sting
had a two man advantage near the end of the
period and despite outshooting the Thunder 24-8,
were unable to tie the game. The final score was
2-1 for the Thunder.

Sarnia Peewee MD Vs SSE Wild
Thursday, January 24, 2008
Clearwater Arena
The Sarnia Peewee MD team played
their second game in as many nights hoping to break a two
game losing streak.
Greg Loucks had the start in net
and the coach of the team, Paul Futers, made some changes to
the forward lines hoping to get the boys going again.
|
 |
The changes
resulted in a positive start for the Sting when
Koen Gendron rushed down the right wing, beat
his man, and scored at the 8:29 mark. The Sting
won the face off at center ice and rushed to the
Wild end again. This time, Garrett Deley got a
good shot on net and Kyle Classen was able to
put the rebound over the Wild goalies pad to
make it 2-0 Sting. The Sting kept pressing and
Jack Paterson was able to convert on a point
shot to increase the Sting lead to 3. With 25.1
seconds left in the period, Colin Lange banked a
shot off the Wild goalie to make it 4-0 Sting. |
The Wild made a goaltender change to begin the second
period. The Sting kept pressing but on a misplay in the
Sarnia end, the Wild got their first goal at 7:28. Tempers
began to flare and players from both teams were sent to the
sin bin for cooling off. The Sting were handed another
penalty but Koen Gendron was able to get a short handed goal
on a break away to give the Sting a 5-1 lead.

The Sarnia Peewee’s started the
third period having to kill another penalty. They were
successful at keeping the Wild in check but a fluky shot at
the 11:00 minute mark found its way behind Loucks. The two
teams were penalized with matching penalties twice before
Matt Hodgins was able to work the puck behind the Wild net
and score the 6th Sting goal at 8:00. The Wild came back at
5:18 and got another goal to make it 6-3. The SSE Wild were
short handed when Brendan Hewton was able to walk in and
score the 7th Sting goal. Tempers continued to flare and the
game finally ended with more penalties called but the Sting
ended up winning 7-3.
The Sarnia Peewee MD play their next game on Wednesday,
January 30th against the LMHA Thunder at the Argyle Arena at
7:30 pm. |
