The Sarnia Peewee MD team played
the LMHA Thunder at the Argyle Arena. Chris Winch had the
start in net. In the first period, the Sting had the first
opportunity to score but the Thunder goalie made a great
save. The Sting were penalized and at the 6:09 mark of the

scored. The Sting were unable to score on an ensuing power
play despite having 3 good chances. At the end of the
period, the Sarnia team was short handed again.
In the second period, the Sting
were able to kill off the penalty. Another penalty was
assessed to the visitors but Chris Winch made a point blank
save on the Thunder power play to keep the score 1-0. At the
4:00 mark the Sting tied the game. Garrett Deley passed the
puck to Kyle Classen. Classen shot the puck over the goalies
glove for the goal. At 2:39, the Sting found themselves down
a man again and this time a fluky shot from the Thunder
broke the tie.
The third period began and the
Sting kept pressing. The team thought they had the tying
goal but the ref’s denied them of the goal. At the 7:10 mark
of the third, Brendan Hewton rushed down the left side of
the ice and found the short side to tie the game. Once
again, the Sarnia team found themselves on the penalty kill.
The game winning goal was scored by the Thunder on the power
play. Final score: 3-2 LMHA Thunder.
