Oakridge Aeros
Thursday, March 13, 2008
Clearwater Arena
The Sarnia Peewee MD team and
the Oakridge Aeros played a one game playoff to determine
the division winner as they were tied in points at the end
of the regular season. The winner would be traveling to
Hamilton for the Alliance Provincial Championship in April
to represent the Forest City League.

Greg Loucks
started in net for the Sting. The Sting were
missing 4 regular players so the team brought up
Austin Williams and Alex Daamen to fill in. The
game started and both teams had good chances to
open the scoring but it was a 0-0 tie at the end
of the first. |
In the second period, the Sting had numerous chances to
score. Koen Gendron just missed on a short handed breakaway.
Garrett Deley, Matt Hodgins and Justin Lindsay all had
chances to break the tie but the Oakridge goalie came up
with some excellent saves.
The third period began and the teams had still not scored.
The Sting thought they had a goal when Austin Williams tried
a wrap around. With 5:09 remaining, Colin Lange shot at the
net during a penalty kill and Koen Gendron jumped on the
rebound for a 1-0 lead. Oakridge kept pressing and at 3:14
they tied the game.
Overtime began with the teams tied 1-1. Both teams had a man
in the penalty box. Nine seconds into the overtime, Oakridge
were able to score to win the game. Both teams played a very
entertaining game and the Sting wish the Aeros all the best
at the Provincials.
