Sarnia Jr. Sting vs. North
London Nationals
Carling Arena
The Sarnia Major Peewee MD team
traveled to the Carling Arena in London to meet the North
London Nationals in the first round of a best 2 out of 3
playoff.
Chris Winch started in goal for
the Sting. The Sting came out buzzing in the first period.
Brendan Hewton opened the scoring for the Sting at the 6:35
mark on a nice end to end rush. Hewton added another goal a
couple of minutes later when he put in the rebound off a
shot from Chase Henne. North came back and scored at 2:22 to
cut the lead in half.
In the second period, the Sting
found themselves short handed but Hewton was on fire and
scored a short handed goal to give the Sting a 3-1 lead and
Hewton a hat trick. The Sting kept on pressing and goals by
Garrett Deley and Justin Lindsay gave the Sting a 5-1 lead.
The Sarnia team found themselves
short handed to begin the 3rd period and just as the penalty
expired, North London scored their second goal of the game.
It was all Sarnia for the remainder of the game. Matt
Hodgins, Koen Gendron, Colin Lange, Hewton and Lindsay all
scored. The final was 10-2 for the Sting.
The Sarnia Peewee’s continue
their series with North London on Thursday, March 20th at
7:00 p.m. at the Clearwater arena. |
