Sarnia Jr. Sting vs. North
London Nationals
Clearwater Arena
The Sarnia Major Peewee MD team
played the North London Nationals in the second game of
their best 2 out of 3 series. The Sting won the first game
10-2.
Greg Loucks started in goal for
the Sting. In the first period, Justin Lindsay was able to
score on the first shift of the game for a 1-0 lead. The
teams traded penalties but the period ended without any
further scoring.
In the second period, the
penalty box doors got a work out as both teams received
numerous penalties. The play went from end to end and Loucks
made some good saves to keep North off the scoreboard. Koen
Gendron had two great chances to increase the Sting lead but
the score remained 1-0 Sting at the end of the period.
In the third period, North
London found themselves down two men and at the 7:22 mark,
Garrett Deley was sent the puck from the faceoff and he
riffled a shot past the North goalie. The Nationals were
able to get a short handed breakaway but Loucks denied them
of a goal. With time running out, the Nationals pulled their
goaltender and Garrett Deley put the puck in the net to seal
the win for the Sting. The final score was 3-0.
The Sarnia Peewees now advance
to the next round of the play-offs where the will meet West
