Sarnia Peewee MD
Vs.
SSE Wild
Monday, March 3, 2008
Nichols Arena
The Sarnia Peewee MD team
played their second last game of the regular season against
the SSE Wild. A win would guarantee at least a second place
finish in their division.
Chris Winch started in net for
the Sting and within 15 seconds was given the lead on a nice
goal by Matt Hodgins. Brendan Hewton made it 2-0 for the
Sting 28 seconds later. The Wild made a goalie change but
the Sting kept up the pressure. At the 7:41 mark, Hewton
scored his second of the game. Less than a minute later, C.J.
Montanaro’s shot from the point found its way into the net
for a 4-0 lead. The Sting found themselves two men short at
the end of the period but Chris Winch was able to stop all
the shots he faced.
Kyle Klassen found the puck
laying on the Wild goal line and poked it in at the 9:07
mark of the second period. It was 6-0 moments later when
Justin Lindsay was set up in the slot. Lindsay was set up
in the slot again at the 4:49 mark and scored his second of
the game for a 7-0 lead.
The play began to get a bit
chippy as the Wild started to show their frustration. At
12:03 of the third period, Lindsay completed his hat trick
for an 8-0 lead. The Sting were shorthanded when the Wild
broke the shut out at 10:08. The Wild started to press and
scored again 29 seconds later. With less than 3 minutes
remaining in the game, Chase Henne received the puck off the
face off and scored the final goal of the game. The Sting
won 9-2 and out shot the Wild 24-18.
The Sarnia Peewee MD play their
next game on Thursday, March 6th against the LMHA Thunder at
the Clearwater Arena at 7:30 pm. This is the final game of
the regular season. |
