Sarnia Jr. Sting Peewee vs. SSE
Wild
Clearwater Arena
The Sarnia Jr. Sting Major Peewee’s
finally had a game after a 10 day break between games. This was
the second game of the season against the Wild and Greg Loucks
got the start in net. The Sting had the first power play of the
game and AP player, Austin Williams, Brendan Hewton and Matt
Hodgins had a good scoring chance. The Wild ran into penalty
trouble but the Sarnia Peewees just couldn’t find the back of
the net. The Sting had their own penalty troubles and were down
2 men at the end of the period. Luckily, the puck was shot off
the crossbar twice and the game remained scoreless.
In the second period the Sting
managed to kill off their penalties and moments later Justin
Lindsay raced down the left side and lifted one over the Wild
goalies shoulder. Once again, Sarnia was penalized and just as
the penalty expired the Wild tied the game. Matt Hodgins and
Koen Gendron worked the puck into the Wild zone. Hard work by
both players gave the Sting a 2-1 lead on a pass from Gendron to
Hodgins.
The SSE Wild started the third
period short handed but a miscue by the Sting gave the Wild a
shot and they tied the game. Matt Hodgins continued to work hard
and rushed by the defenseman then threaded a nice pass to
Brendan Hewton who made no mistake and buried the puck. The Wild
didn’t give up and came right back to tie the game at 3. With
minutes left in this penalty filled affair, Colin Lange almost
connected to take the outright lead. The final score was
identical to the first meeting for these two teams, 3-3.
The Sarnia Jr. Sting Major Peewees
travel to Cambridge on November 16th for the Festival of
Friendship tournament. |
