Sarnia Jr. Sting Peewee vs. North London Nationals Clearwater Arena
The Sarnia Jr. Sting Major Peewee’s had their second game in two nights this time against the North London Nationals. Greg Loucks had the start in net. Loucks made a couple of nice saves before Brendan Hewton took the puck from center, beat the defenseman and scored a bullet on the long side. The Sting had a great power play opportunity when Justin Lindsay found himself alone in front of the net but the North goalie made a spectacular save. Just as the power play was ending, Braydon Futers shot from the point and on the re-bound, Garrett Deley shoved the puck into the net for a 2-0 Sting lead.
In the second period the Sting had a brief let down and on a scrum in front of the net, the Nationals pocketed their first goal of the game. On what would be called the play of the night, Kyle Classen broke out and after crossing the National blueline had the puck get caught in his skates. Classen did a quick spin-a-rama move and on the back hand beat the stunned North goalie. North kept pressing and on a power play to end the period, Loucks was beaten on a deflected shot. The score at the end of the second period was 3-2 for the Sting.
Matt Hodgins and Tristan Reeb kept working hard and Hodgins got a goal with 8:14 in the third period for a 4-2 lead. Loucks made a couple of good saves to end the game and the Sting won 4-2. Sarnia out shot London 18-17.
The Sting play North London again on Tuesday, December 4th at the Carling Arena. Watch for the team on the CN float in Sarnia’s Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, December 1st. highlights brought to you by: |
