Monday, October 22, 2007
Western Fair Arena
The Sarnia Peewee MD team had their
first meeting with the Oakridge Aeros on Monday, October 22nd at
the Western Fair Arena.
Ice conditions were very poor, as
the game started, due to the warm evening temperatures, but
Oakridge took full advantage. The Aeros scored two goals
on their first three shots, as the Sting struggled in their own
end. As the game progressed, the Sting gradually took control
and at the end of the first period the shots were even at 6
apiece.
In the second period, the Sting took
over and outshot Oakridge 5 - 0 but couldn't solve the Aero’s
goalie. The Sting played a physical game in the second, lead by
Garret Deley's hit of the game. Unfortunately, the Sting were
hit with several penalties leaving them playing defensively most
of the period.
In the third period, the Sarnia team
continued to dominate play while playing even strength, but
penalties again left them playing in their own end. The Sting
pulled goalie, Greg Loucks with 1 minute to play but Oakridge
managed to score their third goal into an empty net.
Sting outshot Oakridge 17 - 13, but
were shutout 3 - 0. Greg Loucks took the loss in net.
The Sarnia Peewee MD play their
next game, which is their home opener, on Thursday evening
against LMHA Thunder at the Clearwater Arena. |
