The Sarnia Jr. Sting Major Peewee’s played their first game after the Christmas break at the East Lambton Silverstick Tournament in Watford. Greg Loucks got the start in net. The Sting came out of the gate flying and in the first minute Matt Hodgins worked the puck into the Blenheim zone, passed the puck to Garrett Deley in front of the net and Deley scored the first goal of the game. The Sting took a 2-0 lead with 1:53 left in the period. C.J. Montanaro took the shot from the point and Koen Gendron tipped the puck past the Blenheim goalie. With less than a minute to play in the period, Blenheim answered back with a goal of their own. 2-1 Sting.

The Sting ran into penalty trouble to start the second period. At the 5:50 mark, Blenheim scored a power play goal to tie the game at 2. Both teams had their chances but the score remained tied.

The team from Blenheim had a great opportunity to break the tie but Greg Loucks made an outstanding save on a break away. The play continued back and forth but both teams couldn’t get one past the opposing goalie. The game was still tied 2-2 at the end of regulation.

A sudden death overtime period of 3 on 3 hockey ensued. Tristan Reeb, Koen Gendron and Justin Lindsay all had magnificent chances to put the game away but at the 12:33 mark of the overtime, Blenheim broke the tie to win the game 3-2.
