January 12 - 13, 2008
The Sting started 2008 off
in grand style scoring a pair of wins on the weekend.
Saturday the girls played in
Guelph beating them soundly 7-2. Sydney McDonald, fresh
back from holidays notched a hat trick leading the way.
McDonald opened the scoring
early with an assist coming to Leslie Brandon. McDonald
then scored her second of the game from Hailey Steinman.
Bryanne Roberts found the back of the net for the
Sting's third marker with the assist going to Kristin
Parkes. Also scoring were, Naomi Parsons from Averey
Devereaux, Roberts with her second of the game from
Lauren Wilson, Suzanne Lockhart from Parsons, Then
McDonalds third of the game from Steinman. Nicole Will
was solid in net recording the win.
It was nice to see such an
offensive output by the girls. We will need more of this
come playoffs.
On Sunday, the Sting
travelled to Windsor to face the Wildcats. This is
shaping up to be quite a rivalry especially after Spanky
Steinman's serenading of the Windsor parents. This game
was a close checking back and forth affair with the
Sting coming out on top 1-0. Kristin Parkes scored the
games only goal with helpers coming to Bryanne Roberts
and Claire Vanden Eynde. The defence played
exceptionally well as did Naomi Dubs in net stoning the
Windsor shooters on a few occasions to preserve her 6th
shut out of the season.
