Sarnia vs Stratford
November 24, 2007
The Sarnia Lady Sting Atom "A" team wrapped up their long
home stand with a 2-2 tie against a very strong Stratford
team. Sarnia struggled early, but ended the first period
tied at 0-0. Naomi Dubs was busy in net turning away many
good scoring opportunities.
Stratford opened the scoring
halfway into the second period. The Sting would have to wait
until a goalmouth scramble which resulted in a Stratford
player closing her hand on the puck, prompting a penalty
shot.
Bryanne Roberts was the lucky
contestant. Bryanne carried the puck in on net and appeared
to be going to shoot when she deked to the right and fired
the puck under the sprawling net minder.
The game remained tied at one's
until about three and a half minutes remaining when a
Stratford player went in all alone and picked the top right
hand corner putting them up 2-1.
The Sting girls who just don't
seem to give up rallied to tie the game on a power play with
just over a minute left in the game. Leslie Brandon
assisted by firing the puck on net, and Naomi Parsons was in
the right place to bang home the rebound. Great effort
girls against a tough team.
The Sting now head out on the
road for an Exhibition game in Chatham the two games in
Hamilton next Sunday. Good luck girls, keep working
hard.
