Sarnia Jr. Ladies Sting PeeWee BB
fly around the Mooretown Storm in
exhibition play.
Sarnia
Jr. Lady Sting Peewee BB hit the ice for their 1st exhibition
game against Mooretown Peewee C. Brittany Quackenbush
started out in net for the Sting and played a great period and a
half only allowing Mooretown to get one past her. The Sting 1st
goal of the game came from the line of Cassie Roache,
Amy Rawlings and Allison Lawrence who slammed the
puck in the net on a nice pass from Roache. It didn't
take long for the next line to step up to the challenge when
Alannah Cecchini and Jorrie Kirby who made a nice
pass to Brianne Biggers who was waiting out in front to
tap it in to end the 1st period with a score of 2-1 Sting.
The girls all came out to play in the second period with several
shots on the Mooretown goalie and Rawlings had several
rebound chances that just wouldn't go in. Then Cecchini
won a battle for the puck behind the net to pass it out front to
Kirby who took a shot but it was Biggers who
netted the rebound once again. Quackenbush headed for the
bench after a huge applause from the fans to be replaced by
goalie Melissa Bennett. Pringle then scored
on her own rebound after receiving two awesome tape to tape
passes from Danielle Quinn to Katelin Williams
to Pringle. Both lines of defense, Quinn,
Chelsea MacDonald, Alex Godfrey and Emily Regan
did a stellar job keeping the puck in the zone and making many
key passes to the forwards.
The 3rd period started out with a score of 4-1 Sing, Mooretown
came out strong, but Bennett didn't allow any shots
between the pipes. The line of Williams, Pringle
and Kyla Baines would then score when Pringle took
a shot from just inside the offensive blueline that went through
the goalie's pads, but Baines wanted to make sure in was
in and gave it another tap for good measure to make sure it had
crossed the line. MacDonald then picked up the puck at
the blueline and went in alone to score unassisted. The Sting
scored
again when Roache and Rawlings who were both
chopping at a loose puck in front of the Mooretown goal that
popped up and in the corner of the net, but the Referee called
it "NO GOAL". The whistle sounded and the game ended with a
final score of 6-1 and the Sting ended the game with a win.
