Jr. Lady Sting Peewee
BB Tie Belmont Blazers
The Jr. Lady
Sting Peewee BB team came out hungry to start their 2nd
league game against the Belmont Blazers of the B.A.D. Girls
Hockey Assoc. (Belmont, Aylmer, Dorchester) at the SSEC. The
first 6 minutes of play was all in the offensive zone with the 1st
shot on the Sting goal at 4:07 that was saved by the Sting
goalie Brittany Quackenbush. Alannah Cecchini was able to put
the Sting on the board with 53 seconds left in the 1st
period; assists went to Jorrie Kirby and Brianne Biggers.
The Blazers came
out strong in the 2nd period but Quackenbush was
superb in net making several amazing saves and covering many
loose pucks, she was confident and on top of her game. Emily
Regan made an excellent defensive play to stop a 3 on 1 rush and
the Blazers were struggling to get past the Sting’s solid
defence who all played a great game. The 2nd period
was scoreless by both teams, but all 3 forward lines and the 2
defence lines were putting into practice their passing skills
and their breakout play that they’ve been trying to perfect each
week at practice.
The Sting started
off the 3rd period with a power play after Cassie
Roache received a hard hit into the boards, but the Blazers
stepped up their game and the Sting were finding it tough to
clear the puck from their zone. The Blazers didn’t let up all
period and were able to tie the game 1 – 1 with 3:36 left in the
3rd period. Good Effort Girls!
