Ice Jam Indoor Soccer Tournament
Port Huron, Michigan

A group of 15/16 Sarnia Girls coached by Kevin Simmonds participated at the U18 Ice Jam Indoor Soccer Tournament over the weekend and came home with the Championship Title.

In game one in the preliminary round Sarnia defeated the Fury by a score of 5 - 0. Scoring for the Sarnia Girls were Sarah Harding, Sydney Mellon,  Sabrina Abrams, Chloe Cadieux, Maria Mitchell.  Ashley Dibonia earned her first shut out in net.

In game two Ashley Dibonia earned shutout #2 with a 2 - 0 win over the Bluewater Lakers.  Scoring for Sarnia in this match were Sabrina Abrams, Sarah Harding.

In game three Sarnia took their 3rd win with a 7 - 1 win over the Port Huron Storm.   Sarah Harding scored 3 goals for the hat trick, Sydney Mellon with 2, and singles by Samantha Mellon, Chloe Cadieux.

Game four saw the Ladies from Sarnia going up the Michigan Burn but it was Sarnia who burnt Michigan with a 5 - 1 win.  Sarah Harding score her second hat trick of the tournament with 3 goals, with Sydney Mellon, Erin Alexander rounding out the score card.

In their fifth game Ashley Dibonia earned her 3rd shut out with a 5 - 0 win over Carpathia.  Sarah Harding and Sabrina Abrams each scored 2 goals and a single by Sydney Mellon in the win.

Going undefeated in the preliminary round the Ladies from Sarnia went forward to the Semi Finals where they met up with the Bluewater Lakers who they shut out earlier in the day.  Staying true to their game the Ladies shut out the Lakers for a second time with a 4 - 0 win.  This was the 4th shut out win for Ashley Dibonia.

In the final game the Sarnia Ladies played their toughest game as they went up against Carpathia whom they shut out with a 5 - 0 score in the preliminary round.  In this game Carpathia came out strong and took a 2 - 0 lead.  With  8 minutes left in the game Sarnia Harding scored Sarnia's first goal to narrow the lead.  As the game was winding down the Sarnia team kept pushing and never let up and with minutes left in the game Erin Alexander scored the tying goal. The clock ran out sending the game went into sudden death overtime.  Two minutes into overtime Helen Stoesser was awarded a free kick and scored the game winner for the Championship!  Final score 3 - 2.
