The Sarnia Fury U15 Boys Soccer team recently
competed in the Ontario Futsal Cup held at the Hoop
Dome in Toronto. The boys competed in the U16 age
bracket and played three games in the preliminary
round.
In the first game, Sarnia took on Ottawa St.
Mary. Both teams worked hard in the first half with
the only goal coming from Sarnia’s Marcelo
Villanueva. In the second half, the boys continued
to pressure their opponents and were rewarded with 5
consecutive goals and put the game out of reach.
Scoring was Kwin Kensley (2), Obidiah Atkinson,
Marcelo Villanueva and Anthony Petrucci. John
Chrapko was stellar in net and Sarnia won the game
6-2.
The second game saw Sarnia take on a tough
Brampton team. The boys started out strong and gave
their opponents all they could handle for most of
the first half on goals by Corey Jackson and Anthony
Petrucci. Unfortunately, Brampton have too much
offence and led 6-2 at half then cruised to a 13-3
victory. Scoring the last Sarnia goal was Kwin
Kensley.
In the third game, the boys took on the Ottawa
Crushers. Sarnia came out flat and Ottawa took
advantage and a 4-0 lead at half. In the second,
Sarnia played with more emotion and played shoulder
to shoulder with their opponents. Obidiah Atkinson
scored both Sarnia goals and the game ended in a 7-2
defeat despite the team having many scoring
opportunities.
The team members were: Obidiah Atkinson,
John Chrapko, Corey Jackson, Kwin
Kensley, Anthony Petrucci, Mark
Spinozzi, Morgan Taylor &
Marcelo Villanueva.
