London Scrooge Indoor Soccer Tournament
Sarnia Spirit Wins U16 Division!
 

The Sarnia Spirit U16 Indoor Soccer Team won the Scrooge Indoor Soccer Tournament for the second year in a row.  The tournament was played at the London Optimist Soccerdome.

The players on the team:
Goalkeeper: Ashley DiBona, Taryn Bernier, Sarah Harding, Helen Stoesser, Vanessa Vanreenen, Morgan Breeze, Tori Taylor, Sabrina Abrams, Chloe Cadieux, and Erin Alexander.

In the preliminary round the Spirit blanked Southwest Optimist with a score of 4 - 0.  Taryn Bernier scored 3 goals for the hat trick with Sarah Harding rounding out the scoring with a single.  Ashley DiBona earned the shut out in the win.

In game 2 the Spirit tied the London Storm in a close contest that ended with a final score of 2 - 2 for each side.  Taryn Bernier and Sarah Harding each scored singles in this match.

Ashley DiBona recorded her second shutout in the tournament when the Spirit took a 2 - 0 win over London United Blck.  Again it was the pair of Bernier and Harding scoring to put the team by 2 for the win.

In the final 2 games in the preliminary round the Spirit suffered a pair of losses the first against London United Freedom with a final score of 2 - 0 and the second by the Southwest Tornadoes in a close contest that ended in the 1 - 0 loss. 

The team went 2 - 2 - 1 in the preliminary round which was enough to send them to the semi-final where they went up against the London Freedom for the second time.  In this game it was the Spirit that shut out the London team by a single goal that earned them a spot in the final.  Scoring the game winner for the Spirit was Chloe Cadieux and Ashley DiBona earned her third shut out win in net.

In the final it was another close contest against the Southwest Tornadoes but it was the Spirit that came out on top to win the tournament and bring home the Gold.  Morgan Breeze scored the game winner and Ashley DiBona earned her fourth shutout win in net.
