against the Monkton Wildcats with a
5 - 2 win in Petrolia Friday night.

the game and in front of the home
town crowd a special presentation
was made to the Petrolia Squires
Goaltenders by league Hockey
Chairman Mike Henry. The
Squires earned the WOAA Sr Hockey
Leauge Award for best goals against
with a record of 51 goals in 20
games. Earning the award were Darryl
Foster, Steve Bryce and Justin Day.

In the
first period Lee Cole fired a pair
past netminder Andrew Daub to take a
2 - 0 lead after the first period.
Both goals were both scored on
powerplays with Jason Polera and
Craig LaFramboise assisting on the
first
at 3:34 and and Polera and Scott
Hull on the second at 12:45.
Second
period action saw Petrolia Kyle
Hills score goal 3 from Mike Gardner
and Steve Barraclough at 3:30.
Monkton came back to narrow the gap
to 3 - 2 scoring the next 2 goals
the first at 14:20 by Steeve Valois
from Matt May and Geoff Fullerton
and the 2nd goal with just :03
seconds remaining in the period on
the powerplay Matt May scored
from Geoff Fullerton and Steeve
Valois.
In
period three two powerplay goals
would secure the win with the first
at 8:47 by Kyle Gould from James
Edgar and Lee Cole and the final
goal at 16:30 by Scott Hull from
Jason Polera and Craig LaFramboise.
Andrew
Daub made a total of 33 save in net
for Monkton and for the win was
Darryl Foster with 19 saves.
The two
teams meet again tonight (Mar 7) in
Monkton at 8:30 pm for game 4 and
are back at home for game 5 on
Friday March 13 at 8:00 pm.
