Novice Tier 1 Come Away With A Big
Draw
November 19, 2008
This past Wednesday night the
Novice Tier 1 team traveled to the Kinsmen arena in London
and took on West London, the top team in the league. The
Hawks had managed wins in the prior two meetings, however,
the boys were determined not to make it three.
The game turned out to be one of
the teams best to date. All players were committed to
playing better defensively and it showed as, forwards
fiercely back checked and the defensemen challenged London
forwards instead of back into their zone. Jakob Knowles was
very steady between the pipes, giving confidence to his
teammates in front of him.
West London opened the scoring
half way through the 1st period but Sarnia tied
it up with Jordan Hurtubise spotting Gage Langford streaking
down the left wing, who made a great shot beating the
goalie.
In the second period the Hawks
were able to score another to make it 2-1. From this point
on, the rest of the game belong to the Sting. The Sting
carried the play with most of the play in the Hawks end.
Despite, dictating the play the
Sting couldn’t seem to get one past the goalie. With only 1
minute left in the period, the coach pulled the goalie
sending an extra man on the ice in hopes to cash in on the
Stings pressure. West London were pinned deep in their
zone, they attempted a clear that was intercepted by Cameron
Adam who dished off to Josh Vale, who in turn passed Dante
Fuoco who took a spin shoot that fooled the goalie.
The game ended 2-2. This was an
exciting game to watch and by the celebrations on the ice
you could tell boys were very proud of themselves. |
