Ancaster Double Header October
18
The Sarnia Atom Lady Jr.
Sting took their undefeated record to face the
Ancaster Avalanche. The first period saw two skilled
teams. Ashley Norland in goal for the Sting and
Kennedy Samuel for the Avalanche would not yield any
goals.
The Avalanche surprised
the Sting with a sudden offensive spurt scoring
three goals in 4 minutes. The second period ended
3-0 Ancaster.
Sarnia looked to regroup
and tried to get back into the game when Ginger
Ruypers scored from Kristin Parkes and Vanessa
Wardell. Sarnia continued to press but the clock was
against them. The final tally was Ancaster 3, Sarnia
1.
Game 2
The Sting looked to
avenge their first loss of the season when they
took to the ice against the only team to blemish
their record. The Sting knew they had to work hard
against the fast skating Ancaster squad. The Stings’
Jocelyn Eves got Sarnia rolling when she streaked
down the left side and spotted Mackenzie Wilson in
the high slot. “Mac” made no mistake with her
patented wrist shot, and the Sting had an early
first period lead.
The goal gave confidence
to the Sting girls and they continued to buzz around
the Ancaster goal. The second period started with
Kristin Parkes making an impressive solo rush
through the Avalanche team and beating Samuel in the
Ancaster net.
The defence of Aleah
Boersma, Amy McCormick, Claire Vanden Eynde and
Lydsey Osler made sure the Ancaster offence was kept
outside. Ashley Norland in goal for the Sting
controlled all the shots fired her way and Sarnia
was rewarded with a 2-0 victory. |
