After a perfect 3-0
exhibition schedule, the Sarnia Atom Jr. Lady
Sting travelled to Stratford for their first
league game.
The first period
ended in a scoreless tie with good goaltending
from Ashley Norland in the Sting net. Stratford
surprised the visitors from Sarnia at 8:13 of
the second period when Faith Flanagan of the
Aces bulged the twine behind Norland for a 1-0
Stratford lead.
Four minutes later,
Sarnia got the equalizer when Kristin Parkes
found Sarah McCormick who buried the shot to
knot the game at 1. The Lady Jr. Sting kept
Stratford on their heels the next shift and were
rewarded when Jocelyn Eves pulled a "Gretzky
move" from behind the net and banked the puck
off a stunned Aliya Mcneil in the Stratford net.
Good defensive play the rest of the way ensured
a Sting victory on foreign ice. 2-1.
The Lady Sting next
play Saturday October 11 at the SSEC, 12:15 pm
against Stratford.
