Alvinston Blanks Morpeth
With a great crowd on hand in Alvinston for
Canada Day Festivities, the Alvinston Indians blanked
Morpeth by the score of 9-0 in front of the home crowd.
John Ferguson and Doug Charlton combined for the six inning
shutout of Morpeth. Ferguson threw 4 and 2/3 innings,
striking out 6, allowing 2 hits, while walking one to earn
the win. Charlton provided relief pitching 1 and 1/3
innings, and striking out 3.
The offence for the Indians was ignited early in this game
thanks to a Ryan Chapman two run home run to open the
scoring. Shawn Fenton also followed suit, ending the game
in the sixth inning with a three run home run. Joe Triest
was 3/3 for Alvinston, with 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI's.
Also scoring for Alvinston were Eric Hyatt (2), Chapman,
Fenton, Jamie Shields, Tim Brown, and Mark Saunders.
Collecting RBI's were Joe Triest (3), Fenton (3), Chapman
(2), and Scott Smith.
The Alvinston Indians improved to 6-6 on the season, and are
in sole possession of third place in St. Thomas & District
Fastball League action. They travel to St. Thomas on
Thursday evening, and to Morpeth on Friday evening of this
week.
