Last evening, the Alvinston Indians attempted to end their 2 game inning streak after dismal efforts against both Shedden and Morpeth in recent St. Thomas & District Fastball League action. The Indians travelled to Glencoe, and brought their bats with them, as they garnered 10 runs, en route to a 10-3 victory over the Glencoe Astros. Scott Smith led the Indians posting a 3/4 evening at the plate, with a walk, 4 runs scored, a solo home run, and an RBI. Doug Charlton was the story on the mound for the Indians, as he stifled Glencoe swingers on various counts, as he fanned 9 hitters on the evening, scattering 4 hits over seven innings, and allowing 2 earned runs on the way to the win. Also scoring for the Indians were Joe Triest (2), Shawn Bogaart (2), Scott D. Smith, and Theo Metron. Driving in runs were Mark Saunders (4), Andy Triest (2), Joe Triest, Ryan Chapman, Scott Smith, and Scott D. Smith. Cody Campbell had 2 hits for Glencoe, while Simon Rogers drove in all three runs for Glencoe . Alvinston hopes to creep slower to .500, as they play at home on Thursday against the visiting second place Belmont Black Sox. This coming long weekend, they travel to Cobourg for the Ontario Eliminations, where they will attempt to defend their 2007 Ontario Championship.
