ALVINSTON
COMES FROM BEHIND Morpeth opened the scoring when Marty Peters reached first as a hit batsmen, and then scored on an RBI triple by leadoff hitter Jake Stonefish. Morpeth held this 1-0 lead until the top of the seventh, when Alvinston was finally able to solve Morpeth left-hander Ben Blonde. Mark Saunders reached base on an error, and on the error advanced to third base. Jamie Shields then followed with a clutch RBI single to knot the game at one's. With one out, Andy Triest singled, and then with two out, Joe Triest singled to score both Shields and A. Triest, for a 3-1 lead, all coming in the Alvinston Indians final at bat. Doug Charlton then went out to the mound, and shut the door to earn the victory for Alvinston. Charlton allowed six hits, had seven strikeouts, and allowed one earned run in seven innings of work. Ben Blonde was the hard luck losing pitcher for Morpeth, allowing 3 runs (2 earned), on seven hits with six stirkeouts. Shawn Fenton and Andy Triest both had multi hit games for Alvinston, in the 3-1 victory. The win now evens Alvinston's season record at 7-7. They travel to Belmont on Monday next week, and then are home on Thursday versus Blenheim. On Thursday evening, Alvinston suffered a 5-1 loss to St. Thomas, that placed their record at 6-7, before tonight's win, which pushed them back to playing .500 ball.
