ALVINSTON GETS BIG WIN ON THE ROAD
June 16, 2009

The Alvinston Indians travelled to Glencoe on Tuesday evening, to play host to the Glencoe Astros who have beaten them three times, early in the 2009 season.

The Alvinston Indians got to work right away, when Joe Triest came around to score after a Ryan Chapman hit ball was booted, to make it 1-0.  The Indians then added to their lead in the third inning, when after a Chris Drew single, Drew stole second, and then scored on a two-out RBI single by Jason Hope.  Glencoe crept closer, adding their own run in their half of the third inning, to make it 2-1.  In the fourth inning, Eric Hyatt and Andy Triest both singled to get things rolling, and the Indians would manage to count one run, when Hyatt was able to score on a wild pitch.  In the fifth inning, Alvinston added to their lead, when Drew singled and then scored on a Scott Smith hit ball where there were two Glencoe errors for the Indians fourth run of the game.  Alvinston added their last run, when Bryan Depencier singled to score Kyle Crawford who was running for Scott Smith at secodn base.  Brad Young would keep the Glencoe offence at bay the rest of the way, as the Indians earned a decisive 5-1 victory.  Brad Young threw a two-hitter in the game for Alvinston, striking out 6 in the process, to earn the victory.

The Alvinston Indians are back at it tonight, when they look to go back to .500 with a win over Glanworth in Glanworth beginning at 8:00pm.  This will be the Indians last game before the ISC II Qualifier in Innerkip this coming weekend.
