Alvinston at St. Thomas
Tuesday evening, the
Alvinston Indians travelled to St. Thomas for game 2 of
their St. Thomas & District Major Fastball League
schedule. The Indians opened the scoring when Steve
Donald singled, stole second, and eventually scored on
an RBI single by Ryan Chapman. But St. Thomas quickly
squared matters in the bottom of the first, and then
counted three runs in the second inning, to take a
commanding 4-1 lead.
Alvinston tried to nibble back, but didn't have much
bite against St. Thomas starter Dan Beecroft, who tossed
a four hitter. John Ferguson was the losing pitcher on
the mound for the Indians, while Ryan Swift pitched 4
innings of shutout ball in relief of Ferguson, and
struck out 6 in the process.
Alvinston returns to the field Friday at home against
the visiting Shedden Mission for an 8:00pm evening
tilt.
