ALVINSTON INDIANS TAKE BOTH ENDS OF DOUBLE HEADER

On Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm, the Alvinston Indians played host to the Glanworth Gators in what was a double header affair.  In game #1 Alvinston jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, and added 2 more runs in the second inning, for a commanding 5-0 lead.  The Indians added one more run in the fourth, and then finally allowed the only run against, in the top of the seventh, for a 6-1 win.  John Ferguson was the winning pitcher for Alvinston, tossing 4 innings of shutout ball, while allowing one hit, and counting 5 strikeouts.  Kyle Crawford pitched three innings in relief of Ferguson allowing one run on 5 hits, while striking out 2.  Scoring for the Indians were Joe Triest (2), Chris Drew, Theo Metron, Andy Triest, and Aaron Stocking.  Driving in the runs were Ryan Chapman (2), Jason Hope (2), Metron, and J. Triest.  Chris Drew and Andy Triest were both 2/3 in the contest, while Jason Hope was 2/4.  Aaron Stocking recorded his first hit, rbi, and run scored in the game for Alvinston.

In game #2, Greg Moore took the mound for the locals, and pitched three innings of shutout ball, to earn the eventual victory.  Moore allowed 2 hits, 2 walks, no runs, and struckout 5.  Moore was relieved by Brad Young, who pitched 4 innings, allowing 2 runs (one earned), as well as 3 hits and one walk, while fanning 4 Gators in the contest.  Alvinston scored a run in the first, 2 in the third, and 1 in the fourth, for what was a 4-0 lead at the time in the game.  Scoring for the Indians were Eric Hyatt, Chris Drew, Ryan Chapman, and Tim Brown.  Counting RBI's were Scott Smith, Jason Hope, Young, and Drew.  Once again, Chris Drew was 2/3 for Alvinston to lead the offensive charge. Final score in game 2 was Alvinston 4 and Glanworth 2.

With the two wins, the Indians returned their record back to respectability at 3-4 on the young season in St. Thomas and District Major Fastball League action.  They are off to Mitchell this weekend for a weeknd Tournament.
