Alvinston vs Glencoe
September 16, 2009
Glencoe ties the series
The Glencoe Astros have sent
the STDMFL semi-final playoff series to the brink, after
defeating Alvinston 4-2 on home turf.
Glencoe opened the scoring on a Rowan Lam solo bomb in
the first inning, but Alvinston rallied finally
equalizing matters and then taking the lead on a 2 RBI
single by Brad Young, scoring Steve Donald and Theo
Metron.
With Alvinston clinging to a 2-1 lead, Glencoe went to
work and squared matters, when Rowan Lam cashed Ryan
Gray to knot the game at 2 runs a-piece. Glencoe would
then add a single run in the 6th inning, for a 4-2
win. Shaun Winship was the winning pitcher in the game,
allowing three hits, 2 runs, while striking out 12
Alvinston swingers. John Ferguson started for
Alvinston, and allowed only the one run before turning
things over to Brad Young in the fifth inning, who would
eventually suffer the loss.
Final score was Glencoe 4, Alvinston 2. Game 5 goes
Tuesday evening in Glencoe beginning at 8pm. |
