Alvinston Indians
2010 Baseball
The Alvinston Indians play in the St. Thomas and District fastball League.

ALVINSTON WINS ON CANADA DAY

In front of a large crowd before the fireworks display in Alvinston, the Alvinston Indians played host to the Belmont Brewers.  Belmont scored first in the third inning, when they counted a single run to go up 1-0.  Alvinston left runners in scoring position in first, second, and third innings, failing to score and effectively capitalizing on their opportunities.  However, in the fifth inning, the Indians got rolling.  Joe Triest doubled to start things off, followed by Steve Donald who walked.  That set the scene for Aaron Stocking, who singled to score Joe Triest, to tie the game.  Now with runners on first and third, and one out, Doug Charlton earned a hard fought walk to load the bases, which set things up for Greg Fowler, who promptly singled through the hole at short and third, scoring Donald and Stocking.  That was all the scoring, as Alvinston would go on to win 3-1.  Jeff Lyons started for Alvinston, going three innings, and allowing the only run.  Doug Charlton came in in relief to shut the door, pitching 4 innings, earning the win, and allowing 1 hit and 1 walk.  Shaun Winship suffered the loss on the mound for Belmont, allowing 3 earned runs, 8 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 7.

Aaron Stocking was 3/3 for Alvinston, while scoring a run and collecting the game tying RBI, while Greg Fowler was 2/3 for Alvinston, with 2 RBI's.  With the win, the Indians improved to 12-4 on the season in league play, and 26-6-1 on the season.  Thanks to all the people and fans, who came out to support us on Canada Day in Alvinston!  It was a great crowd!
