Brad Young and Ryan Cummings each threw gems for their respective teams, as the two top teams in the league battled it out in Alvinston last evening. Chris Drew drove in Joe Triest, as Alvinston scored in the opening inning. The game remained 1-0 for Alvinston until the top of the seventh, when St. Thomas battled hard to square the game at 1's. The game went into extra innings, with both teams counting a run in the 8th. St. Thomas scored a run in the 9th, but Alvinston failed to count, as St. Thomas escaped with the 3-2 win. Brad Young was the hard luck loser on the mound for Alvinston. With the loss Alvinston falls to 12-5 on the season, and they travel to Morpeth tomorrow night for an 8pm contest.
