Alvinston Indians
2010 Baseball
The Alvinston Indians play in the St. Thomas and District fastball League.

ALVINSTON SPLITS DOUBLE HEADER

The Alvinston Indians traveled to Fingal last night, for a double header against the St. Thomas Storm.  Alvinston fell behind 5-0 in the first game, but fought back to make it an entertaining affair, eventually losing 5-3.  Brad Young suffered the loss on the mound for Alvinston, while Jeff Ingram was the only bright spot offensively going 2/3 for Alvinston.  Ryan Cummings got the win on the mound for St. Thomas, while Brent Crocker for St. Thomas had the big blast, hitting a two-run homerun to seal the win for the Storm in game 1.

In game #2, Alvinston sent John Ferguson to the mound, and they got going first, counting two runs in the first inning, when both Triest's scored on a 2 RBI double by Chris Drew.  The Indians then added another to go up 3-0, when Greg Fowler scored.  St. Thomas would finally get going in the fourth adding a single run, and making it 3-1.  In the fifth, Tom Jobson and Joe Triest hit back to back singles, and then both scored, when Jeff Ingram opened up the game, crushing a two out pitch over the left field fence, for a three run homerun.  Now with a 6-1 lead, things got interesting when St. Thomas added two in the fifth inning, and one run in the sixth inning, to make it 6-4.  But that's as close as they would get, as Alvinston added one more run, when Drew drove home Joe Triest in the seventh, to secure the 7-4 win for Alvinston.  Ferguson earned the win, while Young preserved the win, as he earned the save.

Alvinston is now 11-4 in league play, and currently occupy the first place spot in the league.  They play host to Belmont on Thursday at 7:30pm in Alvinston, as they provide the entertainment before the Canada Day fireworks which come later.
