The Alvinston Indians had a
home affair on Thursday evening, facing the always solid
St. Thomas Storm. Alvinston gave up an unearned run
early, but then evened matters in the fourth inning,
when Steve Donald doubled and then scored on an RBI
single by Ryan Chapman. The game then remained even
through seven innings, and went to extra innings. St.
Thomas threatened in the eighth, but Eric Hyatt threw
out the go ahead run at home plate to keep the game
knotted at one's. Alvinston then came to the plate, and
with one out Donald singled for his second hit of the
game to score Andy Triest for the game winning run.
Chris Drew and Andy Triest had the other hits for
Alvinston.
Brad Young through masterfully for Alvinston, pitching a
complete game 4 hitter, to earn the win. Young allowed
one run, but it was unearned, while striking out 5. Ryan
Cummings was the losing pitcher for St. Thomas, however
he was dominant as well, fanning 9 Alvinston batters.
The fin score was 2-1 for Alvinston and they improved to
6-1 in league play.
Alvinston is off to Niagara Falls this weekend for the
Snapper Shootout. |
