June 28, 2007 – Slugfest in Green Devil Lehder Match Up

 

The Stoke’s Inland Green Devils and Lehder Environmental combined for a total of seventeen home runs over two games with Lehder hitting ten and the Green Devils hitting seven in Bluewater Major Two Pitch league action.  Despite being out homered, the Green Devils prevailed in both games winning 21 – 13 and 20 – 9.  Green Devil home runs came from one unlike source, with Mike Barron going yard for the first time in his Bluewater Major career; while Mike Dark hit five and Tom Coyle picked up a single home run.  Pat Major carried the big stick for Lehder going yard four times and picking up ten runs batted in, with Mike Vassey hitting three, John Lester with two and Kevin Battle hitting a single home run.

 

In the battle of Two Amigo’s teams, it was Two Amigo’s defeating Two Amigo’s Two 21 – 4 and 26 – 10.  Kris Reid hit four home runs including an in side the park, other Two Amigo contributors included Dan Bullock, Rod Gowrie and Craig Chalmers all hitting home runs.  The trio of Rob Fowler, Craig Chalmers and Ron Barnard connected for the ever rare triple play.  Two Amigo’s Two were led by Dan Tidball going long for three home runs on the night.

 

In the late game, Puck Around and WMA Promotions split their games with Puck Around winning the first 18 – 13 and WMA winning the second 23 – 19 in a close one.  Puck Around scored fourteen runs in the fifth inning en route to the game one win.  Rob Cooper and Wayne Howie hit home runs for Puck Around.  In game two, WMA’s Al MacDonald hit for the cycle while John Hardick was five for five.

 

Note, last week there was a reporting error in the Lehder versus Puck Around game one, Puck Around actually defeated Lehder by the score of 14 – 11.
