May 6, 2007 – Opening Night Bluewater Major Two-Pitch
Results
It was chilly night to start
the 2007 Bluewater Major two- pitch season. All games
were low scoring as players eased into the season,
hoping to avoid injuries early in the season. This
year’s league features seven teams, resulting in one
team receiving a by each week.
In the early games, the
Stoke’s Inland Green Devil’s rallied in the bottom of
the seventh scoring two runs to defeat the late charge
by SIS/Brady’s bunch, 12 – 11. While, Puck Rounds’ late
charge came up just a little short falling to Two
Amigo’s 12 – 11. Kraig Howie of Puck Around had the
night’s only home run in a losing effort. Highlights
for Stoke’s Inland Green Devil’s included both Mark
Monteiro and Jay Armstrong contributing for a combined
nine hits and great defense in center and right field
respectively. Les Thompson, three hits and Bruce Helps
two doubles provided the offense for SIS/Brady’s Bunch.
WMA Promotions defeated Two
Amigo’s 2 12 – 10. John Hardick was the first out of
the 2007 season for WMA, while Jim Barber chipped in
with three RBI’s and Sean Lukon was a perfect four for
four. Mike Highfield made a highlight reel catch for
Two Amigo’s 2.
Action resumes Wednesday
night at the Clearwater diamonds, the early games are at
6:30pm.
