 SIS/Brady’s Bunch Capture Title!

It was a lovely day for baseball last Saturday as the Bluewater Major Two Pitch League wrapped up the season with a one day play-off tournament format.  In the A Division, there were four teams, Stoke’s Inland Green Devils, SIS/Brady, Puck Around and Two Amigo’s and in B Division, there were there teams Two Amigo’s Two, Lehder Environmental and WMA Promotions.

The A Division title was captured by SIS/Brady as they defeated the Stoke’s Inland Green Devils in the second game of a double elimination game 9 – 7.  Joe Clarke and Paul Rufilli each went three for three with lots of great defense by both SIS and the Green Devils.  The Green Devils could not get the bats going in the final game.  Leading the way for Green Devils was Tom Coyle, three for three.

SIS made it to the finals by wining their opening game of the day 16 – 11 defeating Puck Around.  Jamie Kaldeway was three for three for SIS.  SIS then defeated Two Amigo’s 11 – 3, Sean Doherty was three for three in the win.  The two wins gave SIS bye to the finals and had to be beaten twice by the Green Devils.  The Green Devils did manage to win the first game 12 – 11 before losing the must win second game 9 – 7.

The Green Devils lost their opening game to Two Amigo’s 7 – 6. Steve David hit a seventh inning home run to clinch the win for Two Amigo’s, Dan Bullock also homered in the game.  The Green Devils then played Puck Around and defeated them 21 – 4, Mike Dark led the attack hitting three home runs. In a return game with Two Amigo’s and sending the winner to the finals, the Green Devil’s prevailed winning 18 – 9.  Kris Reed had a strong game hitting two home runs and playing very well on defense for Two Amigo’s.

The B Division was set up in a round robin format.  WMA Promotions won both round robin games defeating Lehder 12 – 7 and then Two Amigo’s Two 18 – 14 sending them right to the finals.  Lehder defeated Two Amigo’s Two to advance to the finals and face WMA, needing to defeat them twice to win the B title.

In game one, Lehder pulled through in a close game winning 28 – 26.  Lehder had a 20 – 3 lead after just two innings before WMA made a game of it climbing their way back into the game.  Sean Lukon and Mike Lotz each hit home runs for WMA.

In the final sudden death game, WMA won the B title winning 25 – 18.  Mike Lotz, Al MacDonald and Oscar McCabe were all perfect at the plate.  Lotz and McCabe hit home runs in the win.
