Major Mosquitoes bow out Two
Straight
In
London baseball league playdowns,
Sarnia Braves Major Mosquitoes 1
lost to North London 9-3 and to St.
Thomas 13-12 to be eliminated two
straight in the six team double
elimination tournament.
In
the first game Friday evening,
Sarnia took the lead scoring 3 runs
in the first inning on a double by
Travis Moore, singles by Devin
Butler and Kyle Adams and another
double by Mat Szabo. Sarnia could
muster no further runs though giving
up 9 unanswered runs on 12 hits.
Kobe Lundy, Travis Moore and Richard
McIntosh shared the pitching duties
for Sarnia.
In
the second game Saturday morning,
Jordan Pavey got the start giving up
two runs in two innings. Sarnia
scored runs in the second and the
fourth followed by 6 runs on 7 hits
in the fifth to lead 8 to 2 after
five innings. They could not however
hold the lead giving up 6 runs back
in the sixth to St. Thomas. Sarnia
came back with 4 runs in the top of
the seventh to take another one run
lead into the bottom of the last
inning. St. Thomas scored two with a
double ending the game and giving
them the walk off victory. 9
pitchers in all went to the mound
for Sarnia and seemed to struggle
with control as the Braves walked 15
batters in the game.
On offence, Keyshaun Jordan had 3 hits with single a triple
and a double scoring two runs.
Richard McIntosh also had three hits
with two singles and a double and
scoring two runs. Tyler Gillis added
another run also on a single and a
double.
