Bantam Braves lose doubleheader to Windsor
The Bantam Braves were in Windsor on Saturday to
face the " AAA " Windsor Stars for an
exhibition doubleheader at Cullen Stadium.
Unfortunately, Sarnia left their bats at home, and
were thumped in the first game 11 - 0. Cole
Moriarity and Dom Bucci shared the pitching duties
in the loss. They allowed 10 hits and struck out 5
hitters, while walking 7 batters. Some sloppy
fielding contributed to the lopsided score. Sarnia
came out flat and had only 4 hits in the game - by
Dom Bucci, Curt Robichaud, Nate Havers, and Josh
Taylor. The second half of the twin bill was much
closer as the Braves fell again 7 - 3, although the
game was 3 - 2 until the 6th inning. Austin
Lanteigne, Jake Marks, and Josh Taylor shared
pitching duties for Sarnia. They allowed 9 hits and
struck out 6 hitters, while allowing 8 walks. Sarnia
also managed only 4 hits in this game - Dom Bucci,
Arron Sisson, Joe Frayne, and Nate Havers.
On a brighter note,
the Bantam Braves clinched first place in the
London and District Baseball League with a 20 -
2 record. The LDBA playoffs start Friday night
in London against an as of yet undetermined
opponent.
Next action for
Sarnia is this Tuesday at 7:30 pm at Blackwell
Park vs. Wyoming.
