One Loss, One Win for Braves

Sarnia Minor PeeWee Braves
travelled to Southwest London for a make-up game
Wednesday evening for one rained out on June 11 losing
10 to 6 after drawing within one late in the game.
Thursday they travelled to St. Thomas for another LDBA
baseball game winning this time 18 to 10 in a slugfest
shortened slightly because of darkness.
On the Wednesday game, the
Braves bats did not come alive until the fourth and
fifth innings scoring one in the fourth and five in the
fifth. They fell silent again as Southwest scored 3 more
in the sixth to secure the win. Yenel Olivero led off
the fifth with a triple, Brayden Thomas added a double
with Josh Turner, Jason Verwegen, Ryan Walker, Travis
Moore and Devin Butler all singling in that inning as
well. DJ Lussier started on the mound and took the loss
while Travis Moore closed out in relief.
Against St. Thomas on
Thursday, the Braves drove out 17 hits and drew 7 walks
scoring three in the first, seven in the second, six in
the third and two in the fourth. St. Thomas scored four
in the first, three in the second and three in the
fourth on ten hits but came up short losing for the
first time this season to Sarnia after defeating them
twice earlier. Richard started on the mound for the
Braves and improved as the game progressed securing the
win while Yenel Olivero closed out the game in relief.
Brayden Thomas drove in five runs on a long double and a
single and scored one run as well. Brock Morgan
contributed two runs on three hits. Tyler Gillis, Yenel
Olivero and DJ Lussier added a pair of hits each while
Josh Turner drove in three runs on a long single to
right centre. |
