The Sarnia Bantam
Braves finished in the final 4 of the Ontario
Baseball Association Bantam "A" Championships
on Labour Day weekend in Thornhill, losing to
Niagara Falls in the semi - final..
Sarnia started off strong winning 3 consecutive
games over London Oakridge 9 - 5 Friday night ,
6 - 3 over Waterdown, and 11 -1 over
Amherstburg ( Windsor ).
Late Saturday afternoon Sarnia lost a
heartbreaker to Birchmont ( Toronto ) 6 - 5 in
the bottom of the 7th inning, after taking a 5-4
lead into the top of the 7th inning.
Sunday morning, Sarnia fell to
eventual tournament and provincial champion
Niagara Falls by a score of 8 - 0 and were
eliminated in the double knockout format. The
Braves allowed 4 runs in the 1st inning after 2
were out , and never really recovered.
