Corunna emerges Victorious over Braves by Norm
McIntosh
On Friday the Corunna
Giants narrowly defeated Sarnia Braves Major PeeWees
in Western County baseball action by the score 8-7.
Ryan Walker got the call to pich for Sarnia and
allowed 5 runs on 4 hits. He recorded 3 strikeouts
and 1 walk. Yenel Olivero came on in the fifth in
relief and struck the side but allowed 3 runs in the
sixth after the Braves had scored 3 to go ahead in
the top of the sixth. This gave Corunna an 8-6 lead.
Sarnia rallied with a run in the top of the seventh
to make the game close but stranded a runner at
third giving Corunna the victory. Yenel led the
offence with a double and a triple and an RBI.
Jordan Pavey drove out a double and a key single
driving in 3 runs in all. Brayden Thomas added a
long triple and a single. The Braves recorded 9 hits
with 7 left on base.
