Sarnia Braves
Major PeeWees competed in the Woodstock
Wrangler Baseball Tournament this weekend
defeating Cambridge Cubs 2 by the score of
18 to 1 before losing to Simcoe 7-4 and
Barrie 4-2 to miss going to the semi-finals.
In the Friday
game, Richard McIntosh gave a stellar
performance on the mound against Cambridge
striking out 11 in the five inning mercy
including 7 in a row to start the game,
allowing only 3 hits and nearly completing
the game. Drew Morgan was called upon late
and recorded one out to complete the game.
Offensively the Braves drove out 10 hits
highlighted by the long 3 run home run by
Devin Butler. Other hits included doubles by
Brock Morgan, Brayden Thomas and Ryan
Walker.
Jordan Pavey got
the call to pitch in the Saturday morning
contest with Simcoe. The Simcoe bats came
alive early however and they scored all of
their seven runs in the first two innings.
Mat Szabo pitched well in long relief
allowing only 1 hit and Brandon Shanks
closed out the game. The Braves drove out 6
hits to the Giant's 9. Brock Morgan recorded
two singles and scored two runs.
The afternoon
contest with Barrie Red Sox was a tight
game. Yenel Olivero pitched very well for
the Braves to start giving up only 3 runs in
four innings of work. Ryan Walker pitched
very well in relief also allowing only one
run on three hits. The three runs in the
third by Barrie proved to be enough as the
Braves could only muster one run in the
first and one in the sixth. Both teams
recorded nine hits in the game and stranded
9 runners. Yenel Olivero and Devin Butler
each had two hits and one RBI.
