Wyoming Midgets participated in their 1^st tournament of the season

finishing with 2 wins and a loss at beautiful Emslie Field in St. Thomas.

 

The Wyoming Midgets played excellent baseball this past weekend losing only one game by a score of 2 to 1 to Dundas.  The tournament was set up so that only the 1^st place teams from each pool advanced, and because the Dundas team won all their games, they went on to play St. Thomas for the championship.  St. Thomas ended up as the tournament champs.  For an early season tournament, the Wyoming Midgets were very encouraged by how well they performed.  A special thank you goes to Ymko Boersma for helping out the coaching staff throughout the weekend!!

 

Game #1 – June 1^st – vs. Dundas

Dundas 2 – Wyoming 1

 

Sharing pitching duties were:  Rich Boersma and Craig Steadman. 
Rich Boersma led the offense with 2 singles while Matt Doyle hit 1 single.  Cory Steadman reached base twice on walks and scored Wyoming’s only run of the game.

 

Game #2 – June 2^nd – vs. Ajax

Wyoming 9 – Ajax 0

 

Mitch Robb pitched the complete game.

 

Nick Baljeu led the offense with 2 singles while Rich Boersma connected for a double.  Cory Steadman, Mitch Robb and Russ Muhlig all hit singles.

Walks were issued to:  Chris Bright, T.J. Kennedy, Nick Baljeu and Matt Doyle (2).

Runs were scored by:  Matt Doyle (3), Nick Baljeu (2), Cory Steadman (2), Rich Boersma and T.J. Kennedy.

 

Game #3 – June 3^rd – vs. Richmond Hill

Wyoming 9 – Richmond Hill 1

 

Russ Muhlig and Tim Boersma shared pitching duties.

 

Craig Steadman, Cory Steadman, Mitch Robb and Rich Boersma each hit 2 singles.  T.J. Kennedy and Ben Dupuis each hit 1 single.

Walks were issued to:  Chris Bright (3), Craig Steadman, Mitch Robb, Ben Dupuis and Chris Helps.
