The Wyoming Midgets kicked off their season
home-opener with a 3 to 0 win over the Sarnia
Braves. Tim Boersma started on the mound and
pitched 4 solid innings, allowing only 3 hits while
striking out 8. Jared Vanruitenburg took over for
the next 2 innings, allowing no hits and striking
out 3. Mitch Robb closed out the 7th with a 3 up 3
down inning.
All of Wyoming's runs were scored in the
3rd. Cory Steadman opened with a walk and moved to
2nd on a ground-out by Scott Fowler. T.J. Kennedy
moved Steadman to 3rd with a bunt single. Chris
Bright then hit a fielder's choice with Steadman
scoring on a close play at the plate. Bright stole
2nd and moved the 3rd on Steve Gray's single which
scored Kennedy. Bright scored on a pass ball.
Aaron Gibbings also collected a single in the 2nd
inning.
