WYOMING MIDGET BASEBALL TEAM TAKE HOME THE GOLD MEDAL
AT THE OBA CHAMPIONSHIPS IN AMHERSTBURG

The Wyoming Midgets capped off a successful season by winning the gold medal in the OBA Championships held in Amherstburg.  They played 6 games losing only once.  Four of the six games were one run games.

They started the tournament with a win against Chatham by a score of 5 - 0 followed by a 9 - 3 win over Port Hope.  They defeated Orangeville 3 - 2 and topped Harrow 2 - 1.  Their only loss was to the host team Amherstburg by a score of 2 - 1 in extra innings.  They advanced to the championship game against Waterdown who also had one loss in the double knockout tournament.

The championship game was extremely exciting with Wyoming coming from behind to score 4 runs in the top of the 7th to take a one run lead (8 - 7).  In the bottom of the 7th, Waterdown had 2 men on and no one out but a timely strikeout and some solid defense got Wyoming out of the inning without allowing a run making them the OBA gold medal winners.  Each player and the coaches were awarded a sterling silver OBA ring to commemorate the occasion.  The team is coached by Brian Fowler and Calvin Bright.
