Huron Lakers Major Midget & Junior
Basketball Tournament
 

The Huron Lakers Girls Basketball Club is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its annual girls Major Midget (U-16) and Junior (U19) basketball tournament this weekend, March 28-March 30th.   The locations are as follows:

 

Major Midget A/AA – U16 (Grade 9/10) – St. Clair High School

Major Midget AAA – U16 (Grade 9/10) – Northern High School

Junior A/AA – U19  – St. Christopher High School

 

The 3 divisions will contain of a total of 23 teams with about 250 girls participating in the tournament.  The tournament consists of “club” teams made up of some of the most talented basketball players in the province.  Teams are coming from places such as Toronto, Brantford, Windsor, London, and Hamilton to play a number of local teams.  The highly competitive AAA division will see some of the top ranked teams in the province playing each other.

 

There are several local teams participating in the tournament as well.  The Huron Lakers are represented in the Major Midget A/AA division along with the St. Clair Colts.  Sarnia Valhalla will represent Lambton County in the Major Midget AAA division, and the St. Chris Lady Storm and St. Clair Colts will participate in the Junior division.  Teams from Strathroy, Wallaceburg, and Chatham will also be participating.

 

The tournament is sanctioned by the Ontario Basketball Association and results are used to rank the respective teams for the Provincial championships to be held in April and May.

 

The games will commence at 4:00 pm on Friday, March 28, 2008 and will continue until Sunday March 30, 2008 with the championship games taking place on Sunday afternoon in all 3 gyms at 2:30pm.   

 

Huron Lakers Girls Basketball Club is a non-profit organization established to promote the development of girls basketball in the County of Lambton and is open to all girls in the county regardless of where they go to school.
